Description

Dos Lusíadas Eleivera Tinto is a red wine made by Dos Lusíadas with the native Touriga Nacional variety in the DOC Douro, in Portugal.
Dos Lusíadas is the Portuguese project of one of the Rhone’s most prestigious winegrowers. Since Michel Chapoutier took on the family winery in 1990, he has been able to choose the best vineyards, both in France and in other parts of the world, to apply his winemaking expertise, with the aim of authentically expressing the terroir. He also demonstrates this at his project in the Alto Douro.
Dos Lusíadas Eleivera Tinto comes from a small plot of 3 hectares with soils composed mainly of schist and granite. A new generation of respectful agriculture is used in order to maintain the vine’s own cycles and the natural balance of the terroir. When the grape reaches optimum ripeness, it is harvested by hand in 20 kg boxes.
In the winery, the Dos Lusíadas Eleivera Tinto grapes are placed in small vats where they ferment spontaneously with native yeasts for about 4 weeks. The wine is then aged in concrete vats and French oak barrels for 2 to 4 years.
Dos Lusíadas Eleivera Tinto is a single-variety wine made with Chapoutier’s expertise in Portugal. A Touriga Nacional that exudes the structure of the variety and the minerality and freshness of the terroir.
