This mead is authentic. Ken Maxwell was an avid and inquisitive student of history, but a significant amount of eccentricity caused him to focus more on the unusual and inventive drinks that those historical monarchs enjoyed than on the long-dead Kings and Queens that filled the textbooks of the day.
The renowned Maxwell Honey Mead was created after at least ten years of experimenting with various types of honey and yeasts. The Australian mead business began in 1966 with the release of the first commercial label.
