Description
Dylan McMahon is the most recent generation to make outstanding wine from his family’s original 1972 block of vineyards in the Yarra Valley. This 100% estate-grown Chardonnay comes from the cooler, southern slopes of the Yarra, meaning a wine that puts freshness first.
The fruit is all hand-picked and whole-bunch pressed before fermentation with wild yeasts in a mix of French oak Hogshead barrels (25% new) and a single 2200L oak foudre. Ten months of ageing on the lees gives a nice touch of texture and a subtle almond note.
Textbook example of delicious, fresh, and not-too-oaky Yarra Chardonnay.
