A strong 2022 vintage from high-quality fruit and low to moderate yields with excellent natural acidity from an overall cool vintage with extended ripening periods for most varieties. Perhaps one of the longest vintages we have experienced, harvest continued for 11 weeks. We commenced picking Chardonnay on the 3rd of February in the Riverland, and concluded on the 25th April at Langhorne Creek with Shiraz.
Medium to full red/purple with a slightly medicinal nose, angelica notes, Campari too – from whole-bunch ferment – and nice fruit sweetness in the mouth. A finer, more elegant style. Lovely elegance and fruit-driven charm.” 95/100 – Huon Hooke, The Real Review.
A lovely rich nose with aroma of black currant, blood plums, chocolate, spice, liquorice and fine pencil shaving oak. On the palate the wine is medium bodied with intense fruit flavours and excellent length. The Shiraz has excellent depth and concentration, with fine tannins. Enjoyable to drink as a young wine, it will continue to develop over four to six years.
