Laphroaig 15 year old was first created 30 years ago. Barrels were individually selected for their particularly mellow rounded flavor, then batch bottled at the higher export strength of 43% ABV. The resulting flavor soon became a firm favorite winning many awards. Its highlight was being chosen for the famous ‘Erskine Charity Bottling’ in 2000 when 270 bottles were drawn from a single 15 year old cask signed by HRH The Prince of Wales for this charity of which he is a patron. In 1815, the Laphroaig distillery was founded on Islay. In 2015, the distillery celebrates its 200th anniversary. To mark the occasion, they’ve brought back their 15 Year Old single malt Scotch whisky for a limited edition release! Zesty oak and warm peat smoke top notes, with sweet undertones, reminiscent of fresh nutmeg and toasted almonds. Faintly salty. Laphroaig 15year is a smoother and more elegant elder sibling to the robust 10 year-old. The Laphroaig 15 Year Old was first released in the 1980s, though it was eventually replaced with the Laphroaig 18 Year Old. But now, in celebration of their bicentenary, they’re giving you a chance to get your hands on a bottle of their 15 Year Old single malt once again.
